About FIS

The Faculty of Information Studies (FIS) is independent research-oriented higher education institution in the fields of social sciences and computer science, established in 2018. It is located in Novo mesto (Southeast Slovenia), a major industrial centre of Slovenia and Southeastern Europe. The Faculty has some 300 students at BA, MA and Ph.D level.

FIS strategic vision and focus on high-level applied research is shaped, first, by the intercultural space in which it is located, secondly, by the transnational character of the region, which has traditionally nurtured strong cross-border linkages with the Southeast Europe and, finally, by the region’s successful, smart and inclusive transformation from traditional industrial and rural region to one with high value-added industry and services, in which knowledge played the key role.
